We are a renowned international school with deep community roots, nestled in the village of Zumikon just outside Zurich. We are seeking a skilled and proactive Performing Arts Technician to join our dynamic Creative Arts department. This hands-on role supports our Theatre and Music programmes by ensuring smooth technical operations during lessons, rehearsals, school events, and performances. From lighting and sound to set design and AV, you’ll play a key part in bringing our productions to life—and help shape the new Creative Arts floor as we expand our facilities. 

Specific Responsibilities

  • Operate and manage lighting, sound, and AV systems for lessons, rehearsals, concerts, and school productions 
  • Maintain and repair technical equipment including musical instruments, microphones, and stage gear 
  • Set up and strike equipment for events, ensuring everything is stage-ready and safe 
  • Support set design and construction, coordinating lighting and sound elements for productions
  • Mentor students in theatre tech, lighting, and backstage roles 
  • Collaborate with staff to plan performances and creative initiatives 
  • Manage and organise the school’s technical and musical inventory 
  • Help implement safety protocols and conduct risk assessments 

The successful candidate will have:

  • Technical theatre, AV production, or related qualification 
  • Hands-on experience in a theatre, school, or performance venue 
  • Proficiency in using lighting desks, soundboards, and AV systems 
  • Knowledge of instrument and equipment maintenance 
  • Strong organisational skills and a calm, solutions-focused attitude 
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students and adults alike 


Nice to Have

  • Video editing or digital content creation skills 
  • Experience running student tech workshops or mentoring young creatives 
  • First aid certification or knowledge of health and safety standards
